Catnip evokes different responses in cats – purring, licking, rolling, rubbing, jumping and running. The reaction usually lasts from 5 to 15 minutes.
An inherited gene controls the different responses cats have to catnip.
Cats less than 6months old rarely respond to catnip.
Catnip, added to food, will often coax a finnicky cat to eat.
Strong catnip in the freezer maximizes its freshness.
Directions:
Rub catnip between your hands to release the oils. Offer the catnip loose, in a stock, in a toy, or rub it on a scratching post. Use no more than a few times per week for maximum kitty fun. Do not store in direct sunlight.
